Damn doll!

My husband is absolutely insanely creeped out by dolls. Seriously. I have a huge collection of porcelain dolls at my moms house since the husband is too creeped out by their soft porcelain & their seem to follow you everywhere eyes. Let’s just call it “seen to many horror movies” syndrome. This usually keeps me from picking up dolls out when I’m thrifting to resell….except for two times. The first time I was at an estate sale & I just couldn’t pass up this vintage doll. She’s blond with pink streaks….PINK streaks. I fell in love, still am but she is finally making her way onto ebay after I creeped the husband out by placing her next to the tv to watch him in December. He can’t stand her.

And then a few weeks ago I found an American Girl doll at the Goodwill. For $5. AMERICAN GIRL DOLL! $5? UH….HELL YES! I knew I’d make a pretty penny flipping her on ebay. I had my husband clean her up before I listed her by taking a Mr.Clean Eraser to her body & he was of course telling me how creepy she was the whoooolllleee time. I just chuckled & told him that she would make a pretty penny so hush & clean her. And since her hair was in major need of some TLC I scoured YouTube for videos on how to fix it…I need to wash it. Wash a dolls hair. Yeah. I had her drying in the bathroom counter with her hair drip drying  onto a towel on the floor. And just guess who happens to walk in on her, my husband. Of course. He immediately tells me she needs to be moved somewhere else. But in the end her dress alone I sold for $10! And the doll…well she sold for $65.99! My husband couldn’t believe people would buy “a used, creepy doll” for that much.

Wow! Well, people are willing to pay for their childhood toys. I certainly will be looking for things I enjoyed as a kid for when I have my own kids.
