just in case you missed it on my Instagram…Micah’s hair was chopped off after him begging me for short hair for two weeks. And now he is waiting for his “big hair” to grow back, just as I do every time I cut my hair short…he is regretting his choice. But for now we are enjoying the change and I am enjoying how little upkeep there is with so little hair. He also turned 4 a week after the hair cut…where has time gone?

This is just so perfectly Micah. The too big Croc boots, the vintage Yoda, the mix matched outfit, everything is so perfectly Micah.

Micah is no longer a baby. He hasn’t been a baby in quite awhile which makes me very sad. And when I look at old post like this one and old pictures like this. My heart aches for the times when he needed me more. He’s always been more independent then usual for his age, it has been noted by almost anyone who spends a significant amount of time with him. So it makes me sad to think that he will continue to need me less and less, I know it is a great thing that he is independent. I love that characteristic about him, it’s going to be such a useful trait to have throughout his life. I can admit though, that it makes me very happy when he needs his mama to hold him because the giraffes are getting too friendly or wants to sit in my lap while I’m working on the computer. Of course I get frustrated when he gets in a clingy mood because it is at the least convenient times but then I take a deep breath, remind myself that this moment will only happen once. Every moment just happens once, no matter how many moments seem the same. They are not. Milk every moment you can, embrace the crazy ride your child(ren) will take you on. Heck, parent or not. Embrace life and remember that each moment is just that….a moment! Alright, I’m done with my “open your eyes & enjoy life” post. We all know I go into this frenzy so often but I truly believe the little things make life so much more wonderful if you pay attention to them all.

On Good Friday we spent the afternoon at the Houston Zoo with Micah & one of his favorite cousins, Perla. And while at the zoo we fed the Giraffes!! Waiting in line is always a blast when Micah is showing off his skills.

And it isn’t to shabby to have a cutie like this wanting to hold your hand.

Go on Micah, don’t be shy.

Perla feeding the giraffe & she petted them tons.

After this picture a big, black giraffe tongue came from the right & tried to snatch the last lettuce leaf. And Perla could be heard screaming from across the zoo I’m sure.

Micah just wasn’t too sure of these guys.

And when this giraffe started smelling Micah’s hair…well he nearly had a heart attack!

Everyday my head speeds through which form of exercise will make me happiest for the day. One day it might be a nice run with Micah in the jogging stroller through the park. Some days it will be an intermediate/advanced yoga class that gives me the biggest high afterwards. Yesterday my allergies kicked in and I used it as an excuse not to head to the gym, I’ve been making excuses lately to not work out as hard as usual. And you know where that will get me? Nowhere. Or even worse, gaining the weight I worked so hard to get off. Luckily my diet of mainly fruits, veggies, lean meats and even more veggies are becoming the normal. Yesterday I ate a snickers egg, I felt so sick & my throat burned from the sugar. YUCK!

I think the reason I’ve become lazy with my workouts is because once I finished Warrior Dash, I didn’t have a next goal in mind. My head is all about reaching goals. In March I FINALLY got my tripod headstand down (or should I say up?)!! So I’ve decided to make it my goal that by the end of April I need to be closer to my forearm stand or mastered my firefly pose. So there you have it internet world, my April goals. So go ahead & pester me about it all month if you want.
Micah brought me in “flowers” after playing baseball in the backyard. It’s the small things like this that make me so unbelievably happy. And maybe even a bit teary eyed.

Why yes. Yes it is difficult to get a family picture of us all. And this is the closest we’ve come as of lately. Please note my hair pulled back very tightly since the wind was crazy that day. Micah not even looking. And wait…is JP trying to do a sexy pout? Oh well, this is my family that I love so much. Oh and a statue of a cheetah at the Houston Zoo.

Giving back is very important to me and I hope to pass that onto Micah. One way that we give back is by donating our outgrown or collecting dust household items. When I can get free non-perishable items free (or cheap) with coupons I will give them away to help others. But here is a new way to help & get your child learning about the giving process! It is called Members Unite! You talk with your child(ren) about which project they think is most worthy of support and then vote! And then make sure to check back each week to vote to ensure your favorite project makes it through to the next round!

For Micah he was most drawn to the images of a puppy & a picture of a baby so I explained which each picture represented. The puppy picture is actually a soldiar holding a bulldog, the cause is “Give the Healing Power of Man’s Best Friend to Wounded Vets”. And the picture of a baby is called “Give Infants a Lease on Life” which will provide 20 infants with milk for 500 days (over a year’s worth of sustenance) if chosen! After I talked about both options he picked the picture of the baby and voted five stars to “Give Infants a Lease on Life”. I later went in and filled out the stars on the rest of the options, hey what can I say? I have a three year old, we have to start somewhere right?
For as little as $5 a month, you’ll be able to take an active role in deciding which projects get funding, and how much funding they get. And 100% of your monthly contribution will go toward the winning projects.
